Introduction

Hello everyone, John Bond here, Regional Manager for SIRTA. The transport industry, while vital to our economy, can unfortunately expose individuals to challenging and sometimes tragic events. At the South Island Regional Transport Association (SIRTA), we recognize the profound impact such incidents can have on company employees and their families.

Supporting Our Community

That's why we, at SIRTA, are actively working on one of our main projects: developing a crucial Trauma Group Structure of Trauma Champions. This project is currently underway, aiming to deliver essential support to our members in the future. These dedicated Trauma Champions will be trained volunteers, equipped with the knowledge to assist those affected by tragic accidents at any time.

Their role is to work together, understanding who can be called upon to effectively serve the needs of victims, as well as their families, guiding them through difficult times.

The Importance of Ongoing Support

We understand that ongoing support is absolutely vital for the mental health of all those involved with such tragedies. While victim support services are invaluable in assisting individuals back on the road to recovery, SIRTA aims to enhance this existing framework by providing a specialized, industry aware layer of care. This initiative truly reflects our association's commitment to continuously servicing individual operators with essential assistance and advice, a dedication we look forward to strengthening well into the future.
